Salsa On1 Program/Courses

History

Born in NYC, Salsa is a melting pot of Afro-Latino rhythms. All Salsa is dance on a 8 count. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. On1 salsa timing is also known as L.A. style. One of the most versatile dance styles in Latin dancing.

Timing

Each song has a different tempo and will determined how fast or slow you will dance. Dancing salsa On1 connects to melody (singer), usually within sets of 8 counts. Remember the 4 and 8 are “paused”, however it should show flow between counts. At first it will feel firm and a dry stop, but over time you want to make it flow from count to count.

The goal

Our goal is to provide you with a top notch foundation that can help you grow as a salsa dancer. Our curriculum is international, therefore you will be able to use what is learn in class all around the world to dance Salsa On1 as a lead and/or a follow.

Our Salsa program offers 3 levels of beginner work and 3 levels of intermediate work. Our classes are based on a progressive 4 week cycle. All students start at out level 1 course (Beginner 1 course). Once you have completed a particular cycle you will then be evaluated and promoted to a higher level. Our school focuses on teaching all elements of salsa/mambo music and dance, which enables our students to be among the best and most fundamentally sound in the area.
